- Customized online courses with video-rich, interactive content
- Use of ACTFL-aligned benchmarks and MLA standards
VLS provides placement assessments for individuals interested in ASL instruction. These assessments help determine signing skill levels using criteria such as:
-
Vocabulary knowledge (e.g. alphabet, colors, fingerspelling)
-
ASL grammar (handshape, palm orientation, non-manual signals)
-
Comprehension (yes/no questions, eye gaze, classifiers)
We also offer specialized ASL courses for school nurses, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, and campus safety officers. These are practical, scenario-based trainings that help staff communicate effectively in real-life school situations.
