About Us

Statewide Early Intervention Services began in 1984 with funding from the SC Legislature to serve children from birth to age three. In the spring of 2017, the program was expanded to include children through age five. Since its beginning, the program has served approximately 15,000 children. We partner with Babynet, a program of the SC Department of Health and Human Services, to provide our statewide Early Intervention Program for infants and toddlers, ages birth to 3, who are deaf, blind, or sensory multi-disabled. We also provide services for preschoolers, ages 3 through 5, who are sensory disabled.

Our staff members hold a wide variety of early childhood credentials, and we have ready access to a statewide network of education and disability professionals.

BabyNet

The SC Department of Health and Human Services serves as the lead early intervention agency in our state. Through its BabyNet Program, the department refers families to the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind when a vision and/or hearing concern exists. Services are provided in everyday routines, activities, and places relevant to the life of the family. BabyNet is funded and regulated through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Anyone (a parent, doctor, caregiver, teacher, or friend) can make a referral. Look for signs that an infant or toddler might need extra help. If you suspect a child may have a problem, the earlier you get help, the better!
