Teacher Support Training

Teacher support training may include:

• Classroom/staff orientation and in-service
• Instruction in the care and maintenance of hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone-anchored hearing systems as well as FM and sound field systems
• Training and coaching for classroom teachers and other school staff
• Training and coaching for parents
   

Listening and Spoken Language Mentorship

Our Statewide Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Education Program offers a listening and spoken language mentorship through a collaborative agreement with the SC Department of Education. A certified teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing with training in listening and spoken language instruction is available to mentor new and existing certified teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing. The mentorship may include:

• Guidance on assessing the language and literacy abilities of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Support in long-range planning and the development of IEP goals
• Guidance for lesson planning and service delivery
