Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Education Overview
Through contracts with local school districts, our Statewide Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education Program strives to meet the needs of students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. Our team works with local special education directors, teachers, and medical professionals to ensure that students reach their maximum potential.
Our Program
Our Statewide Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education Program offers local school districts:
- Direct instruction for students
- Coaching and consultation for parents and school staff
Staff Training and Expertise
Our certified teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing have extensive training and expertise in a variety of areas including:
- Language, communication, and literacy
Listening and spoken language
Sign language
Reading and writing - Early childhood education (ages birth to five years)
- General education (kindergarten - grade 12)
- Post high school transition planning (ages 18-21 years)
- Multiple disabilities
- Assistive technology
