Instructional Materials Center Overview

The Statewide Instructional Materials Center serves as the educational materials distribution center for all eligible students in South Carolina who are blind or visually impaired.  The center manages the distribution and return of all braille and large print textbooks used in the state.

The center also distributes materials and equipment from the American Printing House for the Blind. It manages registration for the state's Federal Quota Program.

Located on the Spartanburg Campus of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, the Instructional Materials Center’s primary goal is to ensure that students receive braille and large print materials in a timely manner. The center’s cataloging and inventory tracking system ensures that materials can be procured or produced quickly for the state’s approximately 1,000 students who are blind or visually impaired.
