Deaf-Blind Project Overview


The Statewide Deaf-Blind Project helps meet the unique needs of children and young adults who have combined vision and hearing losses. By offering support from birth to age 21, the project can improve early intervention, special education, and transition services.

Services are available to parents, teachers, and other service providers at no cost. However, the child must be registered on the SC Deaf-Blind Census. For census registration, click below:

Funding and Support

The Statewide Deaf-Blind Project is supported by a grant from the US Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. Project partners include:

  • SC School for the Deaf and the Blind
  • SC Department of Education
  • University of South Carolina Center for Child and Family Studies
  • National Center on Deaf-Blindness
