Read to Succeed Initiative
We believe that reading skills are vital to academic achievement, good jobs, and quality of life. We encourage students to read every day in every way – from books to internet sites to recipes to food labels.
Reading festivals, book fairs, and reading parties are all part of our Read to Succeed initiative. We want to help students see how much fun reading can be and, ultimately, to make it an ongoing part of their lives.
Through our leveled literacy program, reading lessons are adapted to meet the needs of individual readers. Books for each student's reading level and interests are available in classroom libraries and residence halls. Our school's foundation has also provided books for students to take home and read.
Additional support is provided through an after-school reading program, individual instruction, and short-term summer programs.
