What will it cost for my child to attend the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind?

There are no fees to attend the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB). The school is funded through a combination of state, federal, and donor funds.

Is my child eligible to enroll in the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind?

To be considered for enrollment, a student must first have an educationally significant level of hearing loss, vision loss, or both. Additionally, students must meet the general criteria for enrollment into the School for the Blind, the School for the Deaf, or Cedar Springs Academy. SCSDB will also consider whether the student's placement at SCSDB will provide education in an appropriate and least restrictive environment as reflected under the guidance of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). When can my child apply for admission? 

Student applications may be submitted year-round. To develop an educational plan that truly meets your child's needs, an in-depth admissions process is necessary. The process typically takes several weeks from the time an application is received. Once admitted, the student can be enrolled at any time throughout the year, except during mandatory state testing.
 

May I visit the SCSDB campus before applying for admission?

Yes! The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind hosts tours for parents of prospective students year-round. There are even on-campus accommodations for those who need to schedule an overnight visit. We welcome every opportunity to show guests our beautiful 160-acre campus!
