• Accessibility

Making the environment accessible for students who are deaf and hard of hearing is a primary goal for the Hearing Outreach staff members working with local school districts.

    Itinerant Teachers
State certified teachers, or itinerant teachers, for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, provide services including special needs classroom instruction, assessments, assistance with specialized access technology equipment, mentoring and workshops. Itinerant teachers also adapt materials for use by students and are responsible for educational areas unique to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

    Career and Transition Skills Training
Hearing Outreach specialists teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing such independence skills as self-advocacy, advanced literacy, career preparation and transitional skills along with college preparation and studying techniques.

From career exploration to academic assistance for the PASS/HSAP and ACT/SAT exams, Hearing Outreach services are available to meet the accessibility needs of students statewide.
