Audiology Services conducts hearing screenings, evaluations and tests to maximize the hearing of students at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. The audiologist works to meet students’ needs by fitting new or current hearing aids, replacing batteries if needed, making ear molds and repairing damaged devices. Our audiologist consults with other staff members to provide quality service to current students as well as students requesting admission. She also provides yearly evaluations to students on an as needed basis. The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind is one of only a few schools in South Carolina that employs an on-site audiologist and has a certified sound booth for audiology testing.
Our goal is to provide individuals with hearing disabilities the opportunity to achieve maximum success and independence. By providing regular screenings and the most updated audiological technology, students have an optimal atmosphere in which to experience the world around them.
Our audiologist is a licensed professional in the state of South Carolina and has a master’s degree within her field of study.
Parents and families of students do not receive bills for health and related services provided on campus. The audiologist will assist families in working with insurance providers regarding hearing aids and other devices.
