    School for the Deaf Overview

    The School for the Deaf offers quality academic programs that meet all of the standards set by the SC Department of Education. Highly qualified teachers and staff serve students in grades Pre-K3-12 with:

    Strong Academic Programs

    • Small, individualized classes
    • Unit and lesson plans designed to meet the specific needs of students who are deaf or hard or hearing
    • Classes taught using American sign language

    Special Education and Related Services

    • Literacy coach, technology coach, certified speech language pathologists, audiologist, and sign language interpreters
    • Nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other health and related services
