    School for the Deaf
    The School for the Deaf offers high quality academic programs that meet all of the standards set by the SC Department of Education. Highly qualified teachers and staff serve students in grades Pre-K3-12 with:

    A strong emphasis on reading begins in the early grades.

    ·   Small, individualized classes

    ·   Lesson plans designed to meet the specific              needs of students who are deaf or hard of                hearing

    ·   Classes taught in sign language along with a           supported language program

    ·   Literacy coaches, technology coaches, certified        speech language pathologists, audiologists, and      sign language interpreters

    ·   One-to-One technology and specialized                   equipment 

    ·   Art, music, and other enrichment classes 

    ·   Career exploration and work-based learning opportunities 

    ·   Health and other related services

    ·   Field trips and regional skills competitions 

    ·   Clubs, activities, and leadership opportunities 

    ·   Sports and recreational opportunities

    Both day and residential programs are available, and bus transportation is provided for both programs.
