We’re Proud to be State Employer of the Year

Our school has been named State Employer of the Year by both the National Federation of the Blind and the SC Commission for the Blind.  A full 17.6% of our employees are deaf or blind.

 “We’re honored to receive these two awards and commend our outstanding employees who made it possible,” said Margaret Park, school president. “Our managers strive to hire qualified individuals who are deaf or blind and to make the work environment accessible.  Our employees who are deaf or blind are great role models for our students.”

The National Federation of the Blind expressed appreciation for the school’s “outstanding record of providing meaningful employment opportunities for blind South Carolinians” at its state meeting. The Commission for the Blind commended the school’s commitment to help employ SC citizens who are blind or visually impaired at an annual awards ceremony.
