A four-year scholarship is available for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind and The Walker Foundation are accepting applications for the McAlister Scholarship, a four-year scholarship that can be used at any four-year state college in South Carolina.

               An applicant must be:

                  ·        a graduate or upcoming graduate of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (School for the Deaf)

                                                                                     or

                   ·      a graduate or upcoming graduate of a South Carolina public school who received services through the SC School
for the Deaf and the Blind Hearing Outreach Program.

The scholarship honors the memory of Mallie McAlister Clark, a 1934 graduate of the Deaf Division of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. The late Paul W. McAlister and his late wife, Barbara, of Laurens, SC established the scholarship through the McAlister Foundation in 2007. It is awarded each year.
