Applied Academics Center Overview

 School for the Deaf high schoolers are taking a virtual field trip on a Prom Board

The Applied Academics Center Program is designed to prepare students for jobs or continued education in post-high school, career or technical institutions.

 

At age 13, students begin initial career exploration through a series of career awareness classes. In high school, students participate in career preparation exercises such as resume building and the interview process. They also have the opportunity to work on and off campus.
 
The Applied Academics Center Program assists seniors in obtaining job placement in their field of choice and assists with transition into the workforce.
 
Classes are offered through occupational clusters, including:
  • Agriculture, food, and natural resources
  • Architecture and construction
  • Marketing, sales, and service
  • Hospitality and tourism
  • Information technology
  • Transportation, distribution, and logistics
  • Education and training
  • Health sciences
  • Arts, audio/visual technology, and communications

  • Employment English
  • Job Skills Math
  • Independent Living Skills
