Barnes & Noble to Sponsor a Halloween Fund-raiser for the

SC School for the Deaf and the Blind

SPARTANBURG - Are you looking for a fun, safe Halloween party for your children and an opportunity to do some holiday shopping – that will also benefit the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB)

Just don a costume (optional) and head for the Spartanburg Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 1489 W.O. Ezell Boulevard on October 31 from 4 – 8 p.m. The store will be turned into a chocolate factory and Willy Wonka will be on hand with chocolate bars for all the children.  Five of the bars will contain a golden ticket, which will entitle the owner to choose a free book.  Trick or treating will take place throughout the store and a children’s costume judging will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.   Other activities include apple bobbing, a Halloween craft activity, bowling, storytelling and go fishing.  Spartanburg Lions Club members are assisting with the fund-raiser.

SCSDB students will present musical performances.  The School for the Blind students will perform at 4:30, 5:15 p.m.  Students from the School for the Deaf will perform at 4:45, 5:45 and 6:45 p.m.

Following their performance at Barnes & Noble, students from the School for the Blind will travel to Greenville to see the performance “Annie” at the Peace Center.  The students performed the musical at SCSDB to a standing-room only audience.

All Barnes & Noble Booksellers in South Carolina are supporting SCSDB with a voucher book fair, October 29 – November 4.   Just present a book fair voucher at time
