CHARLESTON – The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) Lowcountry Regional Outreach Center will host an information-sharing program on transitioning from middle school and high school into postsecondary educational opportunities or the workplace for students who are deaf/hard of hearing or blind/visually impaired.  The event is free and open to the public to include parents, school principals, special education professionals and career counselors.

            The event will be held at the new location of the SCSDB Coastal Regional Outreach Center, 1064 Gardner Rd, Suite 216, Charleston, SC on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008.  Sessions will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.   For more information or to pre-register, call 843-852-4160 (Voice) or 843-852-4162 (TTY).  A sign language interpreter will be available.

            The program will offer information about student transition services, provide information to professionals to SCSDB’s postsecondary education program and the SC Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program (SC TEDP).  Information will be available to professionals to help effectively address the postsecondary, vocational and technical needs of individuals with deafness.
