Spartanburg, SC – A Roebuck student has been named the 2008 Outstanding Senior for the School for the Deaf.

            Lance Hall received the award during the commencement exercise at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB).  He is the son of LeRance and Darlene Hall.

            Hall attended SCSDB since 1993 and was involved in numerous activities during those years.  He was an honor student, a member of the Beta Club, and a member of the academic team for four years, serving as team captain this year.  He participated in the mainstream program at E.P. Todd Elementary, Gable Middle School and Dorman High School and was the recipient of the 2007-08 Norman F. Pulliam Scholarship Award.

              Extracurricular activities included involvement in Close-Up, a government leadership program held in Washington, D.C., attending a Youth Leadership Camp in Oregon and serving as president and as a delegate to the Junior National Association for the Deaf.  He was this year’s  king of SCSDB’s Junior-Senior Prom.

            Hall plans to attend Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.

The SC Department of Education named SCSDB a Palmetto Gold School for its academic accomplishments and a Red Carpet School for its outstanding customer service.  SCSDB is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf and the SC Department of Education.  SCSDB offers programs for preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, sensory multidisabled, vocational and postsecondary education students, as well as a variety of outreach services through regional centers located throughout the state.
