Spartanburg, SC – A Hopkins man has been named the 2008 outstanding graduate of the School for the Blind.              Timothy Delts received the honor during the commencement exercise at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB).   He was involved in the drama and dance program, and a member of the SCSDB track team and cheer team.  Delts excelled academically and was also a student in the school’s mainstream program at Spartanburg High School.

            He has been accepted to attend Spartanburg Community College and plans to major in culinary arts and become a chef.   He is the son of Patricia and Timothy Delts of Hopkins.

The SC Department of Education named SCSDB a Palmetto Gold School for its academic accomplishments and a Red Carpet School for its outstanding customer service.  SCSDB is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf and the SC Department of Education.  SCSDB offers programs for preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, sensory multidisabled, vocational and postsecondary education students, as well as a variety of outreach services through regional centers located throughout the state.
