Eagle Nest Golf Club Tournament to Benefit SCSDB Outreach Programs

Little River, SC – Plans are now underway for the third annual golf tournament to benefit the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) outreach programs.

The golf tournament, hosted by the Eagle Nest Golf Club in Little River, SC is Saturday, June 16 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Shot Gun start and a Captain’s Choice format.  The tournament proceeds will benefit SCSDB’s outreach services.

“We are very appreciative to the Eagle Nest Golf Club for their support of our school,” said Dorothy Bambach, director of the Coastal Regional Outreach Center.  “Proceeds from previous tournaments have allowed us to provide resources for individuals who are sensory impaired that would not otherwise be possible.”

According to Bambach the funds have been used to establish a program to loan canes to local public school students; provide scholarships for needy students to attend sign language classes; purchase text books to be used by specialists working with families with babies who are deaf; provide a sign language interpreter for a CPR class; and purchase electronic equipment to assist interpreters.

“I am pleased to work with the staff at the SCSDB Coastal Regional Outreach Center to organize this benefit that assists children in our area of the state who have sensory disabilities,” said Angela Elliott, event co-chairperson.

The $50 per person entry fee ($200 per foursome) includes one round of golf, a golf cart, lunch, beverages, door prizes and more.  All golfers will receive a $20 gift certificate from Martin’s PGA Superstore.

For more information or to register, contact the Coastal Outreach Center at 843-248-8100 (voice) or 843-248-0937 (TTY) or 843-249-1449.  Bambach and Angela Elliott

SCSDB’s Outreach Services provides statewide leadership in the delivery of community-based programs to individuals with sensory disabilities, their families and the professionals who serve them.  A wide array of services, including early intervention services and vision and hearing services to SC public school districts, are offered through six Regional Outreach Centers located across the state.

The SC Department of Education named SCSDB a Palmetto Gold School for its academic accomplishments and a Red Carpet School for its outstanding customer service.  SCSDB is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf and the SC Department of Education.  SCSDB offers programs for preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, sensory multidisabled, vocational and postsecondary education students.  The school’s web site address is www.scsdb.org and its toll-free telephone number is 1-888-447-2732.
