Break-A-Thon to Benefit the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind

GREENVILLE, SC – Breaking 2,000 boards sounds like an unusual activity for a fund-raiser!

This is exactly what the students of Master Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do will do during the third annual Break-A-Thon benefit for The Walker Foundation of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB). The event will take place on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Master Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do parking lot at 1451 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC.  The event features students performing martial arts demonstrations including the breaking of 2,000 boards.

Last year, more than $15,000 was raised to benefit SCSDB and the funds supported the purchase of new furnishings for a boys’ dormitory.  This year’s goal is to raise $18,000 by the students who collect pledges to participate in the Break-

A-Thon.  At noon, during a special ceremony, a check will be presented to The Walker Foundation, the fund-raising arm of SCSDB.

“Tae Kwon Do is the art of self-defense that builds confidence and discipline,” said Master Jun Kyu Kim, founder and owner of Master Kim’s Tae Kwon Do.  “A commitment to excellence is the core of Tae Kwon Do, and we are proud of our students

for getting involved in this important community activity.”

“We are very pleased to have this relationship with SCSDB,” said Kim.  “The Break-A-Thon has been a wonderful success each year, and we look forward to this year’s event.”
