Duties:

 

 

 

Maintains adequate medical records by recording and reporting of students' symptoms and reactions and progress through analysis of their records.  Reports pertinent medical information regarding students to the school physician and nursing service coordinator.  Provides and assists with students' treatment, medical tests and other related nursing needs of the students served.  Dispenses medications and other treatments necessary, including arranging medical appointments, follow-up visits and transporting of students as needed.  Coordinates the activity of the health care team at the Health Center for second shift.  Also, assists with identification of special needs for handicapped children and assists in the planning and development of in-service and educational programs to staff and students.  Provides supervision and instructs other medical professionals and para-professionals in the treatment or care of the students. 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

 

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree required).  Must have current SC RN Licensure issued by the State Board of Nursing and three years of full-time professional nursing experience.  Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing; the ability to supervise and delegate work to subordinates; the ability to follow detailed instructions of a technical nature; ability to prepare and present educational programs to non-medical and medical personnel; and must be able to make decisions and perform work independently.  Must also have basic computer literacy skills.  Requires considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing in accordance with accepted and prevailing nursing standards in the industry.  Must also be able to practice in accordance with safety standards for the professional nursing industry.  Minimum Entry Level SCPI:  Not Required; Goal Skill Level SCPI: Survival Plus.
