Acts as an interpreter in a variety of settings,
using communication appropriate to the language and intent of the speaker and
interprets/translates the consumer’s communication in English appropriate to
the language and intent of the signer.
Interprets/transliterates on an assigned basis for confidential
meetings and other sensitive situations having ethical implications.
Facilitates communication for consumers on an assigned basis in interpreting
for special events such as conferences, special meetings, workshops and other
activities. Communicates with scheduling personnel on status of completed
requests including changes in billing time, no shows and/or any customer
services issuses. Provides excellent
customer service in working with both hearing and Deaf/Hard of Hearing customers.

Bachelors Degree in Interpreting, Special Education,
or related field and one (1) year interpreting experience or AA Degree in
Interpreting and three (3) years experience preferred or High School Diploma
and three years experience preferred or High School Diploma and three (3) years interpreting experience
required. Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
(RID) at the NIC, NIC-Advanced, NIC-Master, CSC, CI and/or CT Level, or equivalent
state screening (within 12 months of hire); Requires knowledge of deaf
culture and fluent sign language communication. Also requires computer literacy skills,
customer service skills, ability to organize complex systems, and the ability
to schedule statewide interpreting requests.
SCPI Minimum Entry Level: Advanced Plus-Superior Plus Range; SCPI
Required Goal Skill Level: RID Certification.
