Duties: |
|
|
|
|||||
|
Accesses academic performance of the assigned
students. Plans and prepares and
Individual Education Plan (IEP) of instruction for the assigned
students. Plans and carries out a
classroom management program in the classroom: advises students of acceptable
behavior and corrects unacceptable behavior; makes referrals if
necessary. Teaches based on individual
student needs and state standards: plans and provides variety of adapted
teaching materials and adaptive aids.
Carries out a program of academic/habilitative instruction in accordance
with the IEP and state standards: monitors individual student progress and
revises teaching materials, methods and techniques as appropriate: teach
students to pursue a variety of adaptive devices. |

Qualifications: |
|
|
|
|||||
|
Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in
Education with Teacher Certification in Deaf Education or able to qualify for
a Restricted Alternate Certificate
upon approval by the South Carolina State Department of Education and SC
Teacher’s Certification in the content area of students served (Secondary History)
or able to qualify for a RAC. Must have demonstrated content competency
(HQ). Prefer classroom experience
teaching deaf/hearing impaired students. Must have the ability to plan IEP’s and
carry out educational programming to meet student’s needs. Must have proficient typing skills and
computer proficiency. Must have
previous classroom teaching experience and the ability to manage behavior in
a classroom setting. Also must be
familiar with implementation of an academic program for the deaf/hearing
impaired in accordance with established curriculum standards as specified by
the SC Department of Education. Minimum
Entry Level SCPI: Intermediate; Goal Skill Level SCPI: Advanced. |
