Duties: |
|

|
Identify ESOL students based on the home
language survey completed by parents and contact parents of ESOL students to
gather pertinent information. Order
and administer all required testing (ITP and ELDA) for all ESOL students
enrolled on the SCSDB Spartanburg campus and evaluate student performance in
the classroom and maintain individual student folders on each student in the
ESOL program (work samples, test, grades, etc.) Collaborate with the classroom teacher with
the development of ESOL goals for the IEP and accommodations/modifications and
strategies to achieve the goals.
Develop, implement and evaluates lessons based on the Long Range Plan,
IEP goals and the SC curriculum standards for the special education classroom
assigned. Develop an Individualized
Educational Program for each child assigned in the special education
classroom. |

Qualifications: |
|
|
|
|||||
|
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Special
Education (Deaf/HH, VI, or closely related field) and must also be certified
by the SC State Department of Education in the area of English as a Second
Language (ESOL). The ESOL/Special
Education Teacher must be able to work as part of a team with staff, students
and families. Must has knowledge of current theory and practice in the area of
Special Education and English as a Second Language with an awareness of the
cultures and the educational effects of these cultures on limited English
speaking students. In addition, the
ESOL/Special Education Teacher must have the ability to evaluate the educational
needs of students and develop teaching strategies based on those needs and be
able to communicate these strategies effectively with parents, students and
staff. Minimum Entry Level SCPI: Intermediate;
Goal Skill Level SCPI: Advanced. |
