Special Olympics is an international program that brings athletic training and competition for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

At SCSDB, the program runs throughout the nine months of the school year, at least 100 students participate in Special Olympics activities.

Special Olympic activities give students continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self image.  Students grow mentally, socially and spiritually and through these activities, exhibit boundless courage and enthusiasm.

SCSDB students train and compete in a variety of sports, including track & field, swimming, roller skating, bowling, bocce ball,
gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and soccer, just to name a few.

This summer, our SCSDB Soccer team and four gymnasts went to the 2006 National Games in Ames, Iowa.   Our SCSDB Soccer team came home with the National Gold Medal and our Gymnasts brought home Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals!
